A Creative Retreat Update

by | Jun 1, 2019

This week, I’m on a creative retreat. I don’t travel anywhere, but rather just take dedicated time off of my day job to work on creative projects that require a little bit of dedicated brain space.

So far, it’s been wonderful. I get to decide what to work on when, and every day I’ve been so productive (and I’ve taken a lot of naps).

In this retreat, I’m focused on the following:

  • designing a new group coaching program called What’s Next for people who are going through a work or life transition (it’s launching in July!)
  • creating and scheduling content for the podcasts and blog for the month of June
  • scheduling archived posts for the month of July so that I can take that month off of content creation (I’m doing my restful July project again)
  • editing Season 5 of the Make Your Way podcast to be released later this summer
  • creating a schedule and detailed outline for a coach training program I want to launch in January 2020
  • facilitating a virtual keynote for an institution’s online learning symposium
  • brainstorming some new wire frames for a website overhaul I’m planning to implement in the next six months or so
  • taking a range of client meetings that I scheduled this week due to my schedule being more open

I’m also make sure that I’m getting in some journaling and a long walk each day, and that routine has been a great way to launch into each day’s creative work.

I still have a few days left to cross some more items off my list and I can’t wait to see what else I can get done. These projects are all ones that I’ve been thinking about for weeks — if not months — so getting to turn my attention to them feels like a huge privilege.

To think on:

  • How would you spend a week of uninterrupted time?
  • Have you ever taken a creative retreat? Why or why not?
