My August To-Do List

by | Aug 3, 2024

A few years back, I began writing monthly to-do lists to help me keep track of what’s on my plate. I share these lists here, and report back each month on what I was able to accomplish.

My July list focused on enjoying this middle month of the summer season. Here’s what I was able to get done in the last month:

  • Visited with family. I had some family come to Denver at the end of July. They were able to find a rental just down the street from my house, so it was fun to have them in town for a few days.
  • Read The Naturals Collection. This was one of the box sets that I assigned to myself this summer and I’d heard that it has Criminal Minds vibes. The series is about teenage criminal profilers who work with the FBI and I enjoyed reading the books while I was traveling for a couple of work trips.
  • Worked on a new coach training class. I’ve been researching neurodiversity as a side project for my coach training program and I spent some time in July designing the new course. It was super fun to put the syllabus together and draft the training guide. I also found out this month that the course was approved to be added to my coach training accreditation.
  • Completed my Restful July tradition. Each year, I take July off of content creation so that I can revisit my goals for the blog, the podcast, and YouTube. With time away from those other content spaces, I had the energy and time to design a new product I’ll be launching in 2025 called Project Management by Design.

July was a mix of creativity and relaxation. Now it’s time to plan for a new month of to-do items! I’m ready to launch into August and see what the final month of the summer will bring.

Here are some of the items on my August to-do list:

  • Launch into the new academic year. My institution starts its fall term this month and I have several projects and initiatives where I will need to hit the ground running. I’m also looking forward to welcoming back our students for this next year.
  • Welcome a new interim chancellor. This past month, my current chancellor announced that she will be stepping down from her role at the end of this summer. In August, we’ll be welcoming an interim chancellor that I’m looking forward to onboarding into our most important projects.
  • Launch a website design project. In July, I hired a developer to help me revise and refresh my main website. I’m really excited for this project and I’m looking forward to working with someone else who can help me to complete the work.
  • Edit training manuals. I drafted several training manuals for the 2025 courses that I’ll be launching and they need to go through a round of edits. I’m hoping to do the first round of structural edits for each in the next month, but any progress will be good progress.

I’m really looking forward to what I’m going to accomplish this upcoming month! What are you looking forward to in the month of August?
