My First Workflow Channel Videos are Live!

If you’ve been following along with my 5 Side Quests for 2025, you know that one of my focus areas for this year was creating a new YouTube channel called workflow, which focuses on translating project management concepts for a higher education audience.

Before the year started, I updated my tech equipment, purchased some new editing software, and designed a YouTube set in my guest room.

In my January To-Do List, I challenged myself to get the first video posted on the channel. I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to get the first one done, so I started small in my expectations. Also, I shared in this podcast episode that I had some fears around launching the channel as well.

However, once I set that goal for myself, my partner and I got started with testing all of our equipment to make sure we understood how to use the camera, set up the lighting, get the right volume level on the mic, and how best to transport the recorded files onto my laptop for editing. It took us several hours on a weekend afternoon before we felt like we got it right, but it also built my confidence that we could produce something I would be proud of.

Then, I set to work learning the new editing software I had purchased. I decided to switch from iMovie, which is the editing software I had used for several years, to Final Cut Pro, which is a small upgrade that would allow me to do different kinds of editing techniques with the videos. I had purchased a course on Final Cut Pro and it was a fantastic support as I edited the first video and got it ready to post.

And now, I’m happy to share that the first three workflow videos are posted to the channel!

The first video is about the definition of a project and how it relates to vision, values, life practices, goals, milestones, and tasks.

The second video is a description of project management skills, and how they show up both officially and unofficially in higher education.

And the third video is about project management platforms and how you can decide which one is right for you.

I’ve decided to post a new video each Thursday, so you can expect to see regular content for the rest of the year now that I have a shooting, editing, and posting schedule figured out.

I’m also thrilled to have over 100 subscribers to the channel who are already connecting with the content.

I hope you’ll check out the channel, subscribe for updates, and let me know if you have a topic or question you’d like to see me cover in a future video.
