A few years back, I began writing monthly to-do lists to help me keep track of what’s on my plate. I share these lists here, and report back each month on what I was able to accomplish.
My May list focused on a mix of work and fun tasks. Here’s what I was able to get done in the last month:
- Celebrated commencement. My institution had our commencement ceremonies in early May, and it was fun to celebrate our graduating students. With the new interim leadership role I’ve taken on this year, I oversee a lot of areas that contribute to our students’ success, so it had special meaning for me.
- Took some vacation time. I decided to take an extra day off of work for the Memorial Day weekend to stretch out that break. Having a couple days of unstructured time over that weekend was such a great reset for my mental health after a busy season at work.
- Read a bunch of books on neurodiversity. As I mentioned in a recent blog post, I’m working on a side project related to neurodiversity for my coach training program and I have a large stack of books that I’m working through. I wasn’t able to get through them all in May, but I started to make a dent in the stack!
- Launched into a new editing project. I signed on to an editorial team for a new book project on coaching in higher education and we started our work in May when contributors sent in abstracts. I’m excited to see the submissions for the volume come together!
May was a pretty full month. Now it’s time to plan for a new month of to-do items! I’m ready to launch into June and see what the first month of summer will bring.
Here are some of the items on my June to-do list:
- Complete 2k minutes on my Peloton app. I’m working toward my 6k minutes goal for summer again and I want to get off to a strong start through walking, biking, jogging, rowing, meditation, and yoga.
- Launch a new coach training cohort. The next coach training cohort begins this month and I can’t wait to welcome a new group of coaches into this professional development experience!
- Meditate 15 times. I’ve been feeling the need for more contemplative practices after several full months at work. I’m going to reboot my meditation practice this month with a goal of 15 sessions of guided meditation.
- Watch Daisy Jones and the Six. I loved this book and haven’t gotten around to watching the television adaptation yet. I’d like to work through all the episodes in the month of June.
I’m really looking forward to what I’m going to accomplish this upcoming month! What are you looking forward to in the month of June?
