Several years back, I began to write monthly to-do lists to help me keep track of what’s on my plate on a different time scale than days or weeks. I share these lists here, and report back each month on what I was able to accomplish.
My December list focused on wrapping up some year-end tasks. Here’s what I was able to get done in the last month:
- Turned in a report at work. Alongside some colleagues, I’ve spent the last several months gathering feedback on an important report that I was collaboratively drafting at work. In December, we were able to finalize it and turn it in, which was very satisfying.
- Completed a winter break retreat. As I’ve done in previous years, I used my winter break to have a retreat that helped prepare me for some of my business services and programs in 2025. This included a lot of smaller tasks that I assigned myself throughout my vacation time and it was wonderful to check all those items off my list before the New Year.
- Read (part of) a chunky series. Some of the final assigned books I had to finish from my 24 books to read in 2024 list were the Faithful and the Fallen series (2,800+ pages). I didn’t know much about this series other than it came highly recommended. I got through the first book, but decided this series is just not for me so I set it aside for other things I wanted to read instead.
- Wrapped up my annual goals. I had a few goals left in my 24 goals for 2024 list that I needed to complete in December, so carved out the time I needed to get those wrapped up in this last month of the year. (You can see my 5 Side Quests for 2025 here and listen to me chat through them on the podcast in this episode.)
December was a pretty full month with lots of wrap-up tasks to complete. Now it’s time to plan for a new month of to-do items! I’m ready to launch into January and see what this first month of the New Year will bring.
Here are some of the items on my January to-do list:
- Launch all the things! I have three different programs launching in January (a new coach training cohort, a new Slow Hustle cohort, and my first PM by Design course… plus two additional coach training courses for existing cohort members are also kicking off). It’s kind of a lot, so I’ll be leaning into all of my organizational skills to keep things on track for each launch. (Email me if you want to join any of these programs!)
- Post at least one video on my new YouTube channel. One of my side quests this year is creating new content for a YouTube channel focused on project management in higher ed environments. I want to start the year with adding content right away, but I also know there could be a learning curve with new editing software, new hardware, and a new filming style. We’ll see how far I can get in the first month of the year!
- Host my first AMA session. I decided to launch a series of monthly Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions for 2025 on a bunch of different topics. January is all about goal setting! You can sign up here to join in.
- Collect 2k minutes in the Peloton app. Working out in the dead of winter is always a bit tough for me. It’s cold, it’s dark, and I just want to hibernate and sleep in. I’m setting this goal to help hold myself accountable to getting in my movement practices in this first month of 2025 and starting the year strong.
I’m really looking forward to what I’m trying to accomplish this upcoming month! What are you looking forward to in the month of January?
